PCMS gains IBM Retail Integration Framework status

Published 21st April 2008

Midlands-based PCMS Group, Europe’s leading provider of integrated software and services for retailers, has successfully completed testing of its Vision Portfolio solutions for compatibility with IBM’s Retail Integration Framework.

IBM’s Retail Integration Framework leverages open standards including Association for Retail Technology Standards (ARTS), Open Application Group Integration (OAGIS) and Global Standards (GS1) to unlock communications between services, information sources and business processes. It allows retail outlets across an estate to communicate, forming a seamless landscape rather than operating individually of each other.

The IBM Retail Integration Framework initiative brings together platform-independent software vendors that deliver proven solutions designed and built for the retail industry. Through this initiative, IBM works with carefully chosen IBM Business Partners to trial solutions and ensure that they meet the rigorous requirements of next-generation, open-standards-based store environments.

PCMS’s retail solutions include its Vision portfolio, a suite of store systems software that offers point of sale, order processing, business analytics and solutions that manage kiosks, central configurations and in-store back office systems. The portfolio consists of totally open, pure Java-based software with fast and intuitive user interface and platform independence. As a result, the software and related support costs are lower than for other systems and incorporate the necessary flexibility for future growth. As a result, retailers experience increased productivity and a lower total cost of ownership.

PCMS, an IBM business partner since 2003, serves numerous retailers worldwide, including a number of the UK’s leading high street names.
